Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 4 medium garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, minced or grated
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 pound broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Slice the steak across the grain into 1/4-inch thick strips.
- Whisk soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
- Add steak to the bowl, toss to coat, and marinate for 30 minutes.
- Toss broccoli florets with sesame oil and 1 tablespoon water in a separate bowl.
- Air fry broccoli at 370°F for 6 to 8 minutes until tender and browned; remove and set aside.
- Pour marinade into a skillet and simmer.
- Arrange steak in air fryer in a single layer and cook at 400°F for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Whisk cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and stir into the skillet; simmer for 2 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Toss beef, broccoli, and sauce together and garnish with sesame seeds.
Notes
- Freezing the beef for 20 minutes before slicing makes it much easier to achieve thin, uniform strips.
- Ensure the steak is in a single layer in the air fryer for the best sear.
